Mai Otome 0~S.ifr – First Impression
February 27, 2008 at 3:21 pm | In Mai Otome 0~S.ifr | Leave a CommentWell, my first impression of this is the name.
How the hell do I pronounce it?
It turned out to be 舞乙HiME ゼロ~シフル~。 (Mai Otome 0-Shifuru)
Besides the confusing name, there is little outstanding about this OVA and so far has no characters related from the original series and Zwei (besides Nina, she’s a cat now).
Same old, same old besides that. SciFi version of Mahou Shoujo, and features much less blatant fanservice than its non SciFi counterpart. Decent costume design based on Persian/Middle Eastern(?) culture. Will continue to follow this series, even if it’s more out of duty than anything else.
This episode features the symbol of the Mai-Otome anime series.
That’s right, giant oversized semi(?)-mechanical arm extensions. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, here is a picture of it.

Zettai Kareshi – Manga Review
February 26, 2008 at 1:00 pm | In Manga, Zettai Kareshi | Leave a CommentI am beginning to have a pile of posts… well… piling up. I’m going make them short and sweet, or at least, short.
This manga is generally Kansai romance/comedy. When you hear that you should think of something like this…

Once again, nice editing shoujomagic!
An anime equivalent of Kansai humour I can think of would be LoveCom. This was much better than Alice 19th IMO, and is great for casual readers since their is little plot movement in general. Well, until later on, then the plot rushes for the finish. Ending is bittersweet, just the way I like it.
Recommended read.
KimiKiss – Episode 19/20
February 26, 2008 at 12:14 am | In KimiKiss Pure Rouge | Leave a CommentMaybe I I showered it with praises too much early on, and only after watching episode 20 does my haunting suspicion became realized. They had indeed cut back in the art quite a bit throughout the middle of the series. Kinda reminds me what Konata mentioned in Lucky Star. I wonder if they just get lazy or some other internal thing like letting newbies try drawing or something. But returning to good art means… it’s going to end soon? Awww, and it was just getting good! (Probably the reason why it’s ending though -.-”)
Overall the two episode is the aftermath of Mizusawa Mao’s confession and Kazuki Aihara’s determination. Well, Aihara’s determination came from this! Obviously a scene from the game, underaged and maybe a reason why this isn’t a drama.

So after Mao’s confession, she tries to act like nothing big happened, but that isn’t going to fool anyone! Along comes Hoshino to freak her out! If Hoshino either looked cuter or scarier it would’ve classified as Higurashi material! にぱ~~♪

Who’s these two? They came so late in the anime… is it like a honourable mention for other “choose-able” girls in the game? At least it wasn’t like that honourable mention in School Days, that was just an orgy. Literally. The one with long hair looks like Miya Miya from Bamboo Blade, now with black hair to match her sentai colour.

I’m sure little of us forgot about the long awaited moment. No, it’s not here yet, they’re just mentioning it once again. Poor Sakino, she has yet to kiss anyone… yet? No idea, it doesn’t look like it’ll be her turn anytime soon.

And while we’re STILL waiting for it. (Mostly me…僕は摩央が大好き!) Let’s draw the attention with some cheap comedy! And some directing cuts!

On the other hand Hoshino has a heart-touching moment that is on the cheesy side and has no effect on me, but then again I’m a Mao fan.

Getting onto Aihara x Futami side… this is the final judgement. She has lain the smackdown on Aihara. Then comes a crying in the shower scene, but wait… she’s not crying! Cooooold!

But it’s Mao who ends up crying this episode… and my expectations are crushed as this is as far as they go… where is the kissing scene? How are they gonna put it in the movie?

Hoshino is on scene to see this, but falls short of going into おやしろモド,good self control if you ask me.

At the end of Episode 19, Kai caught Mao at a weak moment, will he be able to get back into her heart?

Episode 20
To start off, no he didn’t. His speech wound him up in the BFF and not BF category. Though he already accepted that fact. He suggested Mao should also act strong in order to ease the burden to those around her. Notice the detail of the still scenes in this episode. No idea how long since these appeared.

Mao decides to drops this all behind her, or at least try to. I personally think it’s not working out so well. On the side, Sakino is becomeing more and more lady-like. Not working out so well for her either, but at least she’s trying.

What does Hoshino do when she found out about Kouichi and Mao? Like any humble and diligent Japanese girl would do, nothing. For a woman, she sure took it like a man. Very detailed hair, me likes.

Then comes a rare moment with Nana-chan, it turns out she was originally the protagonist’s sister in the game. Although you couldn’t tell if it’s a good adaptation since both Kazuki and Kouichi have separate and equally important arcs.

Wrapping it up, Eriko finally accepts Kazuki’s feelings, or at least her wall is crumbling down. Tsundere moment!

Ending has yet another cliffhanger! Mao decides to move out! Wait… is that so shocking?
That’s all I can manage today… some posts tomorrow… if I feel like it.
Shigofumi – Episode 6/7
February 22, 2008 at 10:56 pm | In Shigofumi | 1 CommentEpisode 6:
Another random story. This time is about a student being bullied then going Columbine. Is there anything more? Maybe it’s telling us to sympathize with the one being bullied. Or the one that got stabbed… no idea. Any guesses?
Loosely translated, it’s hauntingly similar to Cho Seung-Hui’s – “hey /b/ I’m going to kill people at vtech today in the name of anonymous.” Really, not kidding.

Before you realize it, all must bow down to the anon’s. Doing it for the lulz since 19(xx)… I have no clue.

Bullying like this is kinda stupid, it’s too easy to track down. They need to improvise more.

And finally, Fumika the Unwanted gets a little bit of airtime in this episode.

But truly the main character is the werewolf! Arrrr-woooooo! Lunar eclipse yesterday! It was so cool!

Episode 7:
Finally getting into the main plot? Maybe I’m wrong? This involves Fumika’s ex-friend’s お姉さん. It could mean big sister, or female leader of the mafia. In this case, it’s both.

On the side, I can totally relate to Matoma’s feeling of pleasure, because he sounds like he’s getting the piss shivers.

Fumika pays a visit to her other half, whom she had no idea where she was prior to now. A little too coincidental if you ask me.

If I also had the money, I would also build something as pretty and useless( and possibly not feasible) as this. It sure beats the yellow brick road.

It turns out Mikawa Kiramiki pretty old. (And ugly.) And looks like a drag queen.

This scene reminds me of Death Note Season 2’s directing style. Excessively elaborate yet beautiful in its own sense.

Also I liked the part where the fan opened the book. Not particularly original but not used enough to make it dull.

All builds up to the very last scene, the only scene that matters anyways. ぴく!

February 22, 2008 at 12:28 am | In 4chan, Random Stuff | Leave a CommentDon’t have time to post what I originally planned yesterday, but I came across this picture and I just have to post it. A little bit of irony and tons of lulz. Yep, guess where I found it.

True Tears – Episode 6
February 19, 2008 at 1:52 am | In True Tears | Leave a CommentThings are clearing up, much less suspense and uncertainty in the direction things are heading. Shinichiro as ignorant as ever, even his friend seems more sensitive to that type of stuff. (Maybe his friend is gay! That’s why! Straight man will never understand women!)

Although this anime tries it best to divide its air time between the three girls, there is still some weighted differences for them. For this episode, it concentrated on Ai-chan (I just realized that her store name is just that “あい-ちゃん”), then shifted to Hiromi and yes, it was revealed.
じゃ, 始めましょう!
Some revealing of why Ai-chan is going out of Shinichiro’s friend, but no big surprise to me, within my prediction.

And out to steal her spotlight is Hiromi! Ebil! >.<

Seems like the “double date” is well under way.

Noe again with the advances on Shinichiro, but keeps getting bolder and bolder!

Ai-chan comes clean, and even when I’m not supposed to laugh, I can’t help it. His face… too hilarious.

It’s not what it looks like! It really isn’t! No one kissed Hiromi… yet.

I might be your imouto… what? Not I am your imouto? Don’t tell me they go ahead for the romance anyways and then BAM they’re not siblings and a happy AND *legal* ending? But anyways, it’s still suppose to be a big impact… for seriously ignorant viewers… and Shinichiro

How does Shinichiro react to it? He goes into his little fantasies again. This one is so predictable I almost knew what he was going to say word for word.

Looks like next episode will have lots of Noe in it! Randomness alert!

Clannad – Episode 18
February 18, 2008 at 9:00 pm | In Clannad | Leave a CommentI’m not dead! I might as well be when my parents find out what I got on my math midterm though…@.@
Haven’t been watching much stuff last week, but I’ll post up what I watched.
This episode swings back towards Tomoyo, but I’ll try my best to keep it centered Kyou! So Tomoya (Tomoya means friend, which fits him since Clannad was not a H-Game, the irony kicks in when they decided to make it a H-Game though) was suspended for “fighting” outside the school gates. In Japan, they care, because you as a student represents their name. Tomoyo decides to continue visiting him, and does some digging up the past stuff, characteristic of key productions I guess, although I haven’t looked at Kanon in depth.

What I noticed right now is that Sunohara exists purely for comedic relief. I liked him better when he actually did something inspiring like the basketball game. Right now he’s flat and static, kinda sad.

Also Fuko, disappointing!

And also Shounen A. Oh wait, that’s Sunohara, he’s enduring a lot for the sake of some low chuckle-level comedy.

Back to Kyou/Ryou, is it me, or do they have striking resemblance to… Tsukasa and Kagami? With personalities bordering… Mikuru and Haruhi? Wow… that’s where the haunting deja vu is from.

This one is even more convincing, now that you add Kyon*.

But when Kyou feeling down doesn’t look very much Haruhi, maybe cause the absence of that in SHnY.

The ending… well I knew it along, as with Kyou. But you just can’t help but feel sorry for Kyou! Chou moe da yo!

Clannad – Episode 17
February 8, 2008 at 12:29 pm | In Clannad | Leave a CommentSorry for not posting for a while, math midterm. And also Battlefield has taken quite a bit of my time away also, I’m not going to say that’s going to change, but I’ll try. (Although you all know how much trying means to me.)
I love the school internet, I downloaded Clannad within 2 minutes! *shock*
And within 2 minutes, they got rid of Nagisa for this episode.

No worries, she’s just got a fever. After all, she’s the one that Tomoya has feelings for, although it was kinda murky in the last episode, it became more apparent this episode.

Up until now it was slice of life and was avoiding any romance, I find romance a refreshing change. But then again, I just like romance.
This is starting into the Kyou/Ryou/Tomoyo arc, Sunohara and his imouto was short lived, and once again, Sunohara is tossed aside.

But it was mostly about Ryou/Kyou, surprisingly, it’s Kyou who knows how to cook and Ryou that doesn’t. And poor Botan felt the wrath of Ryou’s cooking.

When it say it’s mostly about Ryou/Kyou, it’s mostly about Kyou. It’s my long await Kou arc! <3
I never expected Kyou to strike a pose like this, so typical, and so not Kyou like.

And it’s in the equipment shed that I find the funniest scene. I love how anime scriptwriters word their dialogues!

Almost at the end of the episode, it looks like Tomoyo is going to go against a couple of bokens… a badminton racket… a frying pan… and a weird thing that I can’t see and probably doesn’t exist.

And then they end the episode with another Fuko moment.

PS: Minami-ke Okawari also finished downloading pretty quick, but I’ll save that for later.
True Tears – Episode 5
February 3, 2008 at 8:03 pm | In True Tears | 1 CommentWatched it earlier today, but was too lazy to blog since I had to cook dinner, then indulged myself in some more shoujo manga. xD
Clearly my sense of responsibility is lacking. Not that it’s my duty to write down stuff for each episode though…
Ooook… let’s get started.
So Shinichiro gets asked by Noe’s brother to go out with her, but that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. In a surprising twist, Noe tires to me Hiromi’s friend. Reason: unknown. Hiromi is tested, the ultimate bento sharing challenge!

Afterwards, Noe gets a big shock when she finds out Shinichiro cheated on her! (Say what? They never went out in the first place!) Oh right. She seems to be overreacting then.

On Ai-chan’s side, it looks like she’s going to withdraw from the contest, she is actually beginning to listen to Nobuse! Noo Ai-chan is my favourite!

Then it quickly flashes to a rare scene of Hiromi and Shinichiro together. (I’d truly would give more comment on these but I’m too lazy.)

We all know what that leads to. Shinichiro’s mom just have to happen to find out.

And on Hiromi’s part, it’s pretty much case closed as to being Shinichiro’s sister.

Noe’s motivations are as mysterious as ever, or she’s just plain random.

Another chat with Noe’s brother, it seems Shinichiro just might carry through with this.

You have no idea how dense Shinichiro is, but then again, he’s already the sensitive type in shounen.

And finally. YAY! Ai-chan’s back in the fight!

Looks like all the confession will be bunched up at the next episode, that means the next episode will be a good one! Can’t wait!
