Okay, I should’ve knew better… but I still went and watched it. In fact, I watched like 7 episodes of it! What was I thinking? Just because the ending is somewhat good… I watched mostly lame jokes done by a Yugi looking demon in a world full of inconsistencies that only retards can miss, and seriously, the people in that anime are retards. Episode after episode of the same general crappy mystery with equally ridiculous outcomes. Hopefully that will change as it seems a main storyline is coming out, but I probably won’t watch it anyways, unless I’m really desperate, and right now, I’m not.

Shion no Ou – First Impression

To show that you can make an anime from just about anything, they have an anime for shougi (Japanese Chess), to make it more exciting, they mix in some good old shady pasts and also some murders and mysteries. I don’t mind, since the main theme of the anime is still shougi, but it’s kind hard for me to understand because I never played it before. I’m glad that my fansub of choice Live-eviL decides to leave shougi terms in romanji and explain to us from there. But maybe the moves are over dramatized like most animes about something dull, but I wouldn’t know. This would probably go down with me as something futsu. Unless it does something insightful and surprise me, but from the way things look it’s not going to change much.

So what is it about? Shion, a girl with her parents killed in front of her when she was little, is so traumatized that she lost her voice (and memories of the incident), and the only clue from the murder was the king (or a gold general? no idea) placed in the middle of the shougi board. She was placed in the care of her family’s friend – which happens to profession shougi player – and his wife. While Shion learns shougi and climb up in ranks of the shougi association, she comes closer to closer to her mysterious past and the truth to the murder.

Futsu? I thought so. That doesn’t mean I won’t watch it, it’s still interesting enough to waste my time with.

Figured some of you might want to download the music off my sharing folder instead of coming back here to listen to them, of course, you could easily bittorrent it but if you’re too lazy to, you can now download them from the link I put up in my blogroll. (Sidebar, bottom.)

I might take requests when I get a page up for it.

Enjoy!

Zoku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei – Episode 3

This episode consists of three parts, the first one also has two parallel stories going on, or to be accurate, two parallel lines of random stuff. I suppose some parts of it has some chuckle factor, but that’s about it. The second part is better, and I was glad I continued to follow the series, more like a self conscious sense of duty.

zszs03-01.jpg

But it soon it stopped being that since it became quite funny indeed, almost up to par with the first season beginning. And guess who’s back? Back again? And yes, he’s back on the school clock.

zszs03-03.jpg

And the side references to popular cultures still exists with the main storyline, although I don’t get most, the ones I get I can get a chuckle out of.

zszs03-02.jpg

I think it’s Hatsune Miku? Miku-chan! Moe~ :3

To wrap things up, this episode is a great breakout from the last two in my opinion, it shows they haven’t exhausted their cynicism and stayed away from general retardedness.

But this is where my opinion divides!

zszs03-04.jpg

Yes we know Chiri-chan, that’s very normal.

Anyways, as I was saying before, although this episode is great compared to other two, it still has a bit to go before matching the lulz from first season. がんばって!

Minami-ke! Okawari~ – Episode 4

It’s beginning to drift away from comedy and more into slice of life. And the inconsistencies are still bugging me, like when the Keiko sit far away from Kana? Why is Kana and Chiaki sharing a room? And most of all, what happened to Haruka? She became so kowaii! >.<

mko04-01.jpg

But that aside, this episode seems to be building more into a situation instead of random events like the previous season, I have a feeling there is something up with Fuyuki’s family… Maybe he just lives by himself?

Mirai Nikki – Manga

Been following it for a while now, and recently it came out with a new volume. Although not all the chapters are translated yet, 4chan was quick to jump on top of it with one of the chapters done. This manga is pretty good suspence why, always a twist of fate by using loopholes in the system… kind of like Death Note. There are 12 people with the Mirai Nikki (Future Diary) that can predict different kinds of future, and only one can come up on top to be “God”. That part reminds me Battle Royale, the first one anyways. It’s similar how they need to kill each other in the end but they still make alliances. My favourite is Yuno, I have thing for psycho girls. =3

Not in real life though, that’d be crazy scary.

Minami-ke! Okawari~ – Episode 3

Kinda glad that serious faces and teadrop shaped mouths are being used more and more often, but sometimes out of context to what was done before. There are way more little director cuts than before, I’m okay with that but if it’s used to make some lame jokes funny I find that kinda desperate. But all in all the lulz level seem to have risen from the first episode.

So this is what you call domestic violence…

KimiKiss – Episode 15/16

Starting to understand the ED as more and more pieces falling into place, there is going to be action very soon! Kinda disappointed when Futami said she wanted to end the experiments with Aihara. It’s apparent that it’s from that emotional outburst from Sakino, but Futami only did that because she took it to heart. Surprisingly, Mao is actually turning to Kai for support, is she trying to give herself up to forget her feelings? Backing out seems to be the theme of this episode. I wouldn’t do something so selfless. Thankfully, the preview for next episode suggest Mao will take action! Can’t wait!

Minami-ke! Okawari~ – First Impression

Well, the art style is different, more shading, general proportion difference, Chiaki’s hair color changed and now her hair is like a radar.

That is fine by me but…

Where did the teadrop mouth go? (Apparently it’s the same style as Bible Black, must look up what that is.)

What happen to the eyes? The “serious” scenes? These were the best part of the series! Making them more moe doesn’t help with the comedy.

Would be glad to provide example but I don’t have it on my computer anymore. And my copy is on loan to a friend.

The humour also became more dry and cynical, and it takes quite a while to build up a joke.

Is Chiaki still the tsundere character? I don’t sense it in her anymore, and slapping a bakayarou on the back of a random sentence doesn’t seem to have much effect…

Sadly, I conclude this is not as good as the first season, but I’ll still keep my eye out for it out of respect for its legend.

Minami-keOkawari1

Facing similar crossdressing/onsen troubles, and the teadrop shaped mouth still there but a lot less apparent.

edit: Saw part of episode 2, very different indeed, directing is different, they just omit faces for unimportant bystanders and they also do quick closeup shots for trivial expressions, I don’t mind it really since I think they look prettier this way with the nice eyelashes and stuff, but it just doesn’t feel Minami-ke anymore, hopefully the comedy gets better.

True Tears – Episode 4

January 29, 2008 at 11:50 am | In True Tears | 5 Comments

Snow day today, and the bad thing is I haven’t stockpiled enough anime to last me the day, but I’m grateful since I wasn’t all that prepared for my Japanese quiz. So I watched this episode since I have it lying around but haven’t got around to it. Since my guess at Pretty Face failed miserably, I’m gonna take another stab at this one. So… is Hiromi Shinichiro’s stepsister? For a dating sim it seems possible to have a “brother/sister” thing going without the guilt. I had a suspicion something was wrong when Shinichiro is treating Hiromi so bad, and that line “She is not my daughter!” triggered something… She doesn’t have to say that even if she is this girl who stayed over when her dad died. Reminds me of Myself;Yourself, when your wife cheats on your best friend and the baby is actually not yours.

And this scene from episode 4 just reconfirms by guess.
tt-01.jpg

If that is true, seems like Shinichiro is the only one left in the dark.

I’m pretty sure most of the views would pick either Noe (so moe!~~) or Hiromi, but I find myself rooting for Ai. Because of all the girls, she’s actually trying her hardest to overcome her shyness and being more assertive towards Shinichiro, but she just happened to make a bad move to putting herself out of the available position and to top it off being Shinichiro’s best friend’s girlfriend. But it doesn’t seem she would be chosen in this anime, she doesn’t look main arc to me, I think main arc would be Noe or Hiromi, poor Ai-chan. =(

tt-02.jpg

All in all, I’m glad the fire of love and jealousy is beginning to burn, and like all romance, that’s the juiciest part! Finding myself looking forward to this anime more and more.
